Identity Collage
In this art project I created an identity collage from many different magazine clippings. The background images together represent different aspects of my life. I searched for a long time to find the perfect images to represent me until I finally settled on the images that are included in my identity collage. The American flags tell the viewer that I am a proud american. The wheat field, cows, and barn represents the idea that I am a country boy. By creating this self portrait I hope to influence peoples’ perception of me. By creating a self portrait you get to tell a story whereas if you just take a picture all you have is an image of a person with nothing to tell you about them. When looking at someone's self portrait you can learn things like their favorite sport, or things that they like to do.

The Real Anatomy of Technology
|
For My Real Anatomy of Technology project I chose to use a record player as my piece of technology. I did this because my Grandma has one at her house and we use it every Christmas and sometimes on Thanksgiving. I chose to do a cross section in one of the corners and added a rib cage to suggest that the outer frame of the record player is made entirely out of bones. I made a speaker on one side using a mouth as an outer edge.
When I asked my mom what the term “Technology” meant to her she said that “Technology is something that can ease the way you do something.” On this I agree, because when I answered the same question, I said “Technology means something that can be used to make life easier. |
The Value of Words
For this project I chose to create a ‘73 Ford F250 using words to outline and fill in the piece. I chose a ‘73 ford because my dad has one at home and I like the way it looks. The words I used consisted of the lyrics to “Pickup Man” by Joe Diffie, the lyrics to “Country Roads” by John Denver, and the lyrics to “On the Road Again” by Willie Nelson. I chose to use these lyrics because they talk a little bit about different aspects of what I view as a pickup. Words are used to communicate with each other. Words are one of the most important things in our lives, they are almost vital to our lives.

Automatic Drawing
Automatic drawing is where you don't plan or think about what you are drawing but just go with the flow. Automatic drawing is a good stress reliever. This assignment was intimidating at first because there was no planning involved. While working on this piece I felt an odd sense of calm. I created a bunch of lines of different sizes, some lines were smeared around to create a background while I used others to create the foreground. This is not my favorite artwork because it was too random and I like things to be neat and orderly. I would call my artwork “The calm in the chaos.”
Still Life Of My Life
For my still life of my life painting I chose to paint a mallet, a screwdriver, and a hand saw. These are tools I use when I am working with wood. If these items were not in my life I would have a hard time getting the desired effect out of the wood I am shaping into something useful or decorative. When choosing which items I was going to use I thought long and hard about the tools that I have used and which ones have been the most instrumental in the success of my projects. Just as a painter has their brushes and a sculptor has their chisels, a craftsman needs his tools to produce a beautiful work of art.
Art for a Change
For my Art for a change project, I decided to draw a mask with a no symbol around it and some reasons as to why. My family has helped me to see that even though masks are not the worst thing in the world they are inconvenient and we should be able to make our own decisions good or bad. This artwork might be offensive to some but that’s ok because it is good to challenge our views once in a while. We have to wear masks when going to certain places even if we are vaccinated. The hardest part about creating this piece was figuring out what kind of words to put around the mask to get my point across. I used a bunch of shading to make the mask look as realistic as possible.
